Laptop Specs Hybrid Creators Should Look Out For

by - Wednesday, March 09, 2022

With different social media platforms prioritizing video formats, more and more creators are jumping on the bandwagon to create content that’s short yet highly engaging at the same time. If this is something that you want to pursue moving forward, editing with a laptop should be your go-to goal instead of a mobile phone.

Some of my non-negotiables in a laptop are seamless Adobe PS experience and color-accurate screen
I personally am picky with my work tools because creating content takes a LOT OF TIME. From taking photos and videos down to promoting your content on different platforms, it takes a ton of work that can actually take up a chunk of your day. Having a laptop with standard specs can’t keep up with my demanding tasks anymore and I finally accepted the fact that I have to invest in a work tool with upgraded specifications to keep the content going without sacrificing my time, sanity, and savings.

The ASUS Vivobook Pro 14 OLED (M3401) in Quiet Blue
ASUS hails its latest Vivobook Pro 14 OLED (M3401) as the brand’s best OLED laptop for us creators. Together, let’s take a peek at what makes this device stand out from its predecessors.

Performance

Different laptop components bring out the maximum efficiency of the Vivobook Pro 14 OLED–Ryzen 9 5900HX AMD Mobile Processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and Dual-fan cooling system with ASUS IceCool Plus thermal technology.

The ASUS Vivobook Pro 14 OLED (M3401) specs in a nutshell
I tried working before with an 8GB RAM, 11th Gen Intel Core i7-8550U Processor, NVIDIA GeForce MX350 for Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro but it just won’t cut it anymore. Lags are present from time to time and it’s hard to scrub through clips and playback 4K content on Premiere Pro. Best believe I tried everything to make the most out of this laptop, but I knew in my head that a device upgrade is what I truly needed to avoid inconveniences like this.

Speaking of Adobe apps, this laptop is fully tested for software compatibility with creative apps like Premiere Pro and more. Not only that, but a purchase of this laptop also entitles you to a free 3-month Adobe Creative Suite subscription.

OLED Display

One of my biggest pet peeves as a content creator is not being able to see and process the truest colors of my photos or videos. I always end up getting disappointed once I see them published on social media platforms for having different colors versus the one I just edited. That’s the reason why I’m also working on upgrading my extended display (but that’s another story for another time).

Anyway, because I have a poor external monitor display, I mostly rely on my laptop’s screen for photo and video editing–one of the main reasons why the ASUS Vivobook Pro 14 OLED caught my attention. It has a crisp display that’s PANTONE validated, 100% DCI-P3 Color Gamut to enjoy extra colors DDR content can possess, comes with an ASUS OLED care to prevent OLED burn-in issue, and is safer for the eyes even for long hours of use.

I spend most of my days in front of the laptop and not having to worry about dealing with huge color inconsistency across devices gives me a huge relief while using the newest ASUS OLED laptop. The only thing that I didn’t like much about it was the glossy display but I think most OLED displays are like that. Feel free to correct me in the comments if I’m wrong.

The device also comes in thin bezels, giving that 84% screen-to-body ratio for the best immersive experience in a laptop.

Efficient

Given my short attention span, I’d want my device to deliver outright and this laptop just gives that kind of performance. It boots up fast, all thanks to its SSD. As soon as one hits the power button, it takes less than a minute to take the user to the login page. The ASUS Vivobook Pro 14 OLED is also equipped with one-touch login for safe and quick access to the user’s profile.

It’s also equipped with a webcam shield that a user can easily swipe (located beside the webcam) to ensure privacy on a physical level. I know I’m not alone when I say that I still get paranoid that people might still see me even if the camera is turned off on Zoom, yes?

The touchpad with NumberPad 2.0 is also 21% bigger than other ASUS laptops making it easy to do touchpad shortcuts on your device and perfect for those with fat fingers like me. lol I have another ASUS laptop with a NumberPad and I frequently turn it on by accident. Good thing it’s not the case with the big touchpad of the Vivobook Pro 14 OLED.

It may also not be a huge deal but I appreciate that this laptop can be opened using one hand only versus other laptops that easily get displaced when not opened using two hands.

Audio

The ASUS Vivobook Pro 14 OLED (M3401) has Harman Kardon-certified audio
ASUS takes pride in equipping this latest OLED device with a Harman Kardon-certified sound system. It was a thrill getting nice, crisp sound coming from my own clips or other media content on the web. It was a joy being able to listen to music in the background with its speakers while writing my latest piece.

After using the ASUS Vivobook Pro 14 OLED for quite some time, I can easily vouch for this laptop to help creators push their limits in content creation fast and efficiently.
