My 5 Favorite Huawei Watch GT2 Pro Features

by - Saturday, February 06, 2021

If you've been following my Huawei Watch GT2 Pro journey these past few weeks, you'll know that I swear by this sleek wearable for many reasons. Regardless if I'm doing a workout or other chores at home, this watch is glued to my wrist to be able to keep track of my activities. While there are so many reasons why I keep raving about the GT2 Pro (like its week-long battery life), let me highlight the top five features that I love most about this wearable.

Watch Design and Display

I used to lean towards the rectangular watch face until I gave the GT2 Pro a try. At first glance, I instantly drooled over its titanium and sapphire glass build, evoking an elegant look. It's also lightweight when worn which is a huge plus!

I also appreciate how the 1.39-inch AMOLED HD touch display enabled me to see information such as notifications, data, and the time (obvi!) without the need to squint. This feature stands out especially on the Always-on Display mode. Despite the dark background of my always-on display watch face, I can still see the time clearly while maintaining a certain distance.

While this watch size is commonly worn by men, ladies out there can dress up this watch by updating its watch face from the app and/or switching to a preppier watch strap that's available in Lazada or Shopee.

Water-Resistant

This may fall under the category above but I highly think the water-resistant feature deserves its own spotlight. The GT2 Pro watch has 5 ATM water resistance which means it can withstand water pressures equivalent to a depth of 50 meters. I was initially afraid of dipping in the water because this watch is on the pricier side. I didn't let the fear take over and got the courage to dip in the pool with the watch. The watch worked as expected and I was able to get my swimming stats after a few laps.

To my surprise, the GT2 Pro went to Drain mode as soon as I turned off the Pool Swim mode. The watch played a loud sound and water spewed from where the speaker is located. It also notified me to shake the watch after to help get the water out.

If I'm not swimming, I still keep this watch on when doing the dishes or cleaning my makeup brushes. I'm confident that this watch will work accordingly even with a few splashes here and there.

Built-in Mic and Speaker

I'm not one to usually talk over the phone pre-pandemic. However, things changed, and the current situation pushed me to converse over the phone more than I would want to. I was thrilled to discover that this phone allows me to talk hands-free because of its built-in mic and speaker. The speaker was loud enough to be able to hear the person I'm talking to. The mic also worked well and I was heard loud and clear on the other line.

Other uses of the watch's speaker are as follows: Playing music and getting workout updates. I hope Huawei will soon explore playing music on the watch via Spotify or Deezer for a more seamless music experience.

Workout Modes

I enjoyed customizing the workouts featured on the Workout homepage on the watch. The Huawei Watch GT2 Pro gives its users the flexibility to track 100+ workouts including yoga, spinning, outdoor run, table tennis, and more. One can set a goal in terms of calories or time for a more motivating workout session. The voice guidance feature of the watch gives you an update regarding your goal from time to time, allowing you to have an undistracted workout.

Seamless Watch-Smartphone Connectivity

The Huawei Health app serves as the one-stop-shop for all things Huawei smartwatches. I admire the user interface of the app, enabling me to tinker around the small changes that I can do on the watch. I can even upload music and upload my favorite contacts via this app which will appear on the watch in less than a minute. This app also enabled me to switch watch faces and download apps for the watch.

Using the Huawei Watch GT2 Pro was a breeze and I wouldn't have it any other way. I love it for its size and features and I'll probably invest in more watch straps in the near future. I recommend this watch for people who are looking for a lifestyle partner to help you achieve their health and fitness goals this 2021.
