Five ways PayMaya helped me transition to the new normal

Lifestyle change – our common denominator after being hit by the perfect storm, aka COVID-19. A few weeks after the lockdown, I felt being forcibly detached from my old ways. Grabbing my morning coffee from a cafe, daily commuting, dining at my favorite restaurants, name it. While I fully understand why we need to stay at home, my mind can't help but miss the old days. Fast forward to the present, I may still crave for some things I can't get ahold of, but I'm happily transitioning to the new normal with the help of PayMaya.

Supporting Small Businesses

I've witnessed how this pandemic taught each of us how to be resourceful and creative. After businesses closing indefinitely because of safety reasons, I was elated to learn that most of them were able to figure out how to make a living while keeping everyone healthy and virus-free.

One day, I stumbled upon a spot.ph article about the Margarita crinkles. In case you don't know, the baker behind these decadent crinkles was the original ADB guy who is said to have been in charge of the Asian Development Bank's cafeteria for years.

Impulsive me immediately filled up the order sheet and paid them via bank deposit through the PayMaya app. What I loved about this app is that I was able to cash in from my credit card. To put things into perspective, I'm basically using my credit card to transact even if the businesses only accept a bank deposit payment option. Not only can I gain more points in my credit card, but I also can keep my cash for a longer period of time. You know what they say, cash is king in these extraordinary times.

PayMaya launched its PayMaya Negosyo app which allows small businesses to easily and quickly accept QR and online payments from their customers - helping entrepreneurs to adjust to the shift caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

You, too, can easily get your own PayMaya Negosyo account and accept QR payments easily! All you have to do is simply download the app from Google PlayStore, and register for an account.

Cashless bills payment

After receiving the first bill since the lockdown started, I immediately volunteered to pay for the water bill through the PayMaya app. In my head, I don't want my parents to risk lining up in the mall to pay when we can do it in the comfort of our home at no extra cost!

It was my first time paying the bill through PayMaya and the experience was a breeze – from cashing in to paying. The second water bill came in recently and my dad already knew that there's no turning back from paying our bills through this app.

Contactless food deliveries

To be honest with you, most of my cravings during the past three months were Jollibee, Red Ribbon, and Greenwich. I'm so sad because these restaurants were on hiatus during my birthday week (which kinda sucked but I fully understand).

The good news is that our favorite Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) restaurants are now a chat away. JFC, alongside PayMaya, pioneered the conversational commerce with ‘cashless’ ordering chatbot. This simply means that we don't need to head to our phone or visit a separate website just to have our go-to orders delivered at our doorstep.

Here's how you can order. Type “#order” and send this to the Facebook chatbot of your favorite JFC restaurant, select the meal you'd like to order, pay by selecting your preferred cashless payment option, and wait for your food to be delivered in your home.

JFC restaurants include Jollibee, Chowking, Mang Inasal, Burger King, Red Ribbon, and Greenwich.

Smartphone reload

While I'm at home most of the time, I still need to reload once in a while to be able to reach out to the Grab or Lalamove drivers. (If it isn't obvious, I thrive off of deliveries lately, haha!) While I have many reloading options, I still choose to fill in my tank through PayMaya because of the discounts offered. On a weekly basis, I load P100 and pay via the app for only P95. It's like getting two weeks' worth of load for free, all thanks to my yearly savings! 😍

Donating to different causes

No life was spared after COVID-19 hit not just the Philippines, but all countries worldwide. Given this, it is our social responsibility to help one another in times of need. PayMaya made it easier to extend a helping hand to our kababayans through their #OneWithCovid19 effort. Donation fatigue may be apparent but I encourage you to help different organizations when you can. To know how you can donate via PayMaya, you can click here.
