Get Schooled on Sun Protection!

by - Monday, May 29, 2017

This year's summer is one for the books because I get to travel to three different cities despite my daily work. The past two months jumping around Baguio, South Korea, and Quezon province was an adventure I will not forget because the food trip, bonding, sightseeing, and immersion were a huge breather from my busy toxic life.

For a person who likes to wander around, bathing under the sun is usually an issue. But not for me because I make sure to ALWAYS slather my skin with sun protection.

A derma once said to me, "You can forget your moisturizers, but not your sunscreen!" With this, I also make it a point to remind my friends to invest in sunblocks as well.

In case you live under a rock, sunscreen shields the skin from harmful sun rays and prevents the skin from premature aging. May this blog post serve as a little nudge for those of you who don't use sunscreen daily yet. ;)

What's SPF?
SPF or the Sun Protection Factor refers to how much protection is given by a sunscreen when applied to skin at a thickness of 2mg/cm2.
For example, when wearing a sunscreen with SPF30, skin exposure can last for 5 hours protected from sunburn (given if an individual develops redness after 10min of sun exposure).

With the rainy days coming, I've stocked up on my trusty sun care products to ready my skin against pesky UV rays. Because heck, UV rays from the computer and cellphone screens also affect our skin condition as well. (The gloomy weather outside is not an excuse to skip sun protection, guys!)

I used to be so lazy applying sunblock until I've tried Daylong. Their sun care products became my instant go-to sunscreen because they are oil-free, non-greasy, non-comedogenic, fragrance-free, and water resistant. Who would have thought that all these benefits can be in one sun care product? :)

Daylong sun care products does not only provide highly effective UVA, UVB and IR protection but it also nourishes the skin with aloe vera and vitamin E as well.

While Daylong SPF 50+ Light Gel gives maximum protection for oily or sun-sensitive skin, Daylong SPF 30 Spray Lotion, is a liposomal product that gives medium protection for sun-sensitive skin. For people who have issues with skin care products, these are proven to be hypoallergenic and dermatologically tested. Yay safe! ;)

PACKAGING

The minimalist design of the packaging is a standout because the details of the product are clearly seen. Others might find the layout text heavy, but I like how informative it is. No questions asked after reading everything in the container!

USAGE & TEXTURE

The Daylong SPF 30 comes in a spray-on bottle which makes it easy for the user to reapply. (suggested reapplication is every two hours when under the broad daylight!) If you're the on-the-go type of person, you'll be surprised how easily the skin absorbs the product.

Because the Daylong SPF 50+ Light Gel has a richer texture, it comes in a tube container for easier product dispensing. Upon spreading the product, anyone can tell how concentrated this product is compared to the SPF 30. Even if that's the case, the SPF 50+ Light Gel gently sets on the skin as well.
