NBA Craze in the air y’all!
Err, I’m not really a solid basketball fan but I can say that I appreciate Championship games a lot. I got these influences
from my dad and my brother. Now, beware that I will be saying little basketball
terms that might shock some.
Did you know that one of the NBA Pre-season
games will be held here in the Philippines? The pre-season game will be between
the teams of Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers. It will be held at the Mall Of
Asia Arena on October 10, 2013. It will
be the first NBA pre-season game in the Philippines. Cheers to that!
To name a few of the NBA Superstars of
these teams, Paul George, Jeremy Lin and James Harden are some of the players
to be expected in Manila in a few months time.
Now, why am I saying this? It is because in
accordance to this pre-season event, the NBA
3X Philippines 2013 was held last July 26-28, 2013 at the Mall of Asia
Music Hall, Pasay City and Philippine International Convention Center, Metro
Manila. If you’re wondering what NBA 3X Philippines is, it is an event presented
by Sprite wherein Basketball fanatics are in for a treat as boys and girls of
all skill levels-with an open division for men and women-will be able to
participate vie for top honors and bragging rights. The event will be based on
the FIBA 3-on-3 format and rules, and provide participants and fans the total
NBA experience with entertainment and unique interactive elements.
Take note, males from age 10 years old and
above and female from the age 13 and above can form a team and play among
other skilled basketball players of their division.
Aside from the usual registration location
of the 3-on-3 tournament divisions, an NBA 3X Jeepney plied city routes and
visited schools to invite registrants and make it easier for them to register
in the tournament.
Let's take a sneak peek of what's inside this awesome jeepney.
This pretty DJ is pumpin' up everyone at the MOA Music Hall. Everyone is just so hyped!
The presenting partner Sprite was there to
quench the thirst of everyone as they watch the different basketball games.
Phoenix is also there to entertain everyone with their basketball ring.
On the last day of the NBA 3X, I was able
to witness the Semi-Finals of the VIP Division. (How lucky can I be? J) Different TV celebrities like Rovilson Fernandez, Marco Alcaraz,
Ervic Vijandre, Bobby Yan, Young JV, Mark Zambrano, Jace Flores, and JC
Tiuseco, running guru Rio Dela Cruz (Run Rio) and TV Sports Casters Dominic Uy,
Jason Webb, Richard Del Rosario, Mico Halili, TJ Manotoc, Marco Benitez, and
Charles Tiu.
Among the additional activities NBA had
organized to boost the energy and excitement of the basketball fans are the
autograph of (drum roll please? J) none other
than James Harden of the Houston Rockets, Eric Gordon of the New Orleans
Pelicans and the Indiana Pacemates (Indiana Pacers Dance Team)
For those who are still new to NBA, Eric
Gordon came from Los Angeles Lakers. Notice that this big guy is a member of
the 2010 Team USA squad that won the gold Medal at the 2010 FIBA World
Championship in Istanbul, Turkey.
The NBA Cares-Special Olympics had touched
my heart so much. Little boys from the NBA Cares Program were there to practice
their basketball skills with the help of a coach. Even Air Grizzie was there to help the boys with basketball. They were all such a cutie!
Even Isabel Oli was therew to interview the basketball superstars!
If you can just imagine how starstrucked I
was the moment I saw these faces upfront! I am indeed very lucky to get
snapshots of these huge faces of NBA. I must say that I’m already a fan of
Harden eversince his OKC Days.
James Harden had recently been acquired by
the Houston Rockets just prior to the start of the 2012-13 NBA season. He made
his debut for the Houston Rockets in the 2012-13 season opener, where he had 37
points, 12 assists, six rebounds and four steals. His 37 points tied for the
second most for an NBA player in his debut with a new team.
The VIP Meet and Greet with James Harden of
Houston Rockets and Eric Gordon of New Orleans Pelicans was still pushed
through the Music Hall despite the hard rain. Everyone was so ecstatic the
moment these towers walked by the half court.
The Tower of Power Benjie Paras and his son
Kobe Paras were also there to meet and greet such NBA superstars.
It was a fun day Sunday for every
basketball fan who got to witness this one of a kind event.
