Asian Food Channel Kicks Off 2017 with Celebrity Chef Martin Yan

If it's food that we're talking about, I'm definitely in the conversation! I see myself quite familiar with the western cuisine more than anything else because of the way our country was influenced by their culture. But when given the opportunity to bask in delectable Asian dishes, you can count me in to try and choose my favorites. <3

Culinary icon, Martin Yan returns to Asian Food Channel this January with a brand new series, Martin Yan’s Asian Favourites. Years of extensive travels and meetings with chefs, home cooks and locals across Asia gave Chef Yan an immense knowledge on all things food. Gathering his two decades’ worth of insider’s knowledge and kitchen how-tos, Chef Yan will spill his secrets to preparing seemingly complicated Asian cuisines, guiding viewers step-by-step to perfect Asian dishes. Be it noodles or curry or sides like spring rolls, Chef Yan has got the perfect recipe in his pocket awaiting viewers.

In this new series, Chef Yan will handpick eight different themes to feature in each episode, where he will then whip up four dishes that best represents a country and its unique food culture. In the premiere episode, Chef Yan will combine Thailand’s unique “5 senses in 1 bowl” approach into his Cold Noodles Salad and Crispy Caramelized Noodles and share his take on Malaysia’s Fish Head Noodles and Singapore’s stir fried noodles, all bound to tantalize viewers’ taste buds.

Another staple ingredient on Asians’ dining table is vegetables. Watch Chef Yan whip up the all-time favourite Cripsy Tofu with Bok Choy, Malaysia’s Spicy Nonya Vegetables, the refreshing Vietnamese style Papaya Salad, and last but not least, the savoury Cheese and eggplant Omelette, commonly known as Tortang Talong in Philippines. To top it all off, Martin Yan’s Asian Favourites will also have special guest appearances, where he collaborates with Datuk Fazley and Chef Minh Nha to come up with dishes to celebrate Asian’s vibrant cultures and its flavourful cuisines.

How's 2017 treating you so far, friends?

I've been on a roll since the year started. Yes, blaming my laziness during the holidays. Even if that's the case, I'm ecstatic for all the good news coming my way! ( I can't wait to share them soon ;) )

It was last 2015 when I professed my coffee love for Starbucks Philippines. Because I'm a caffeine lover, this coffeehouse has been my shelter for my clique gatherings, alone time, and work meetings. Back then, I've been hearing about Starbucks Reserve already - a coffee haven that serves ultra‐premium, exotic, rare and exquisite coffees. Since it has a limited number of branches, I've never gotten the luxury of time to drop by and appreciate what this store has to offer.

I'm kind of sad because the day has arrived where most of us will be back on grind today. Just in case you're living under a rock, the holidays are OFFICIALLY over. Eeeck! Time to catch up on school stuff and work backlogs. lol

Situated in the one of Pasig's premiere malls, Estancia in Capitol Commons, Nikuya Charcoal Grill and Shabu Shabu will definitely captivate any foodies' taste with their amazing meat options. From the Japanese word Nikuya, meaning "butcher", this restaurant brings out their expertise in serving only the best meats catering to Japanese and Korean cuisine fanatics out there. Take note, they are included on one of the few Japanese restaurants in the country to have a Grade A5 Wagyu Beef!
