From all the good things I've been hearing about Great Britain, it's a no-brainer that this country is included in my must-visit list during my entirety. Not only famous for its royal family, Great Britain has been a nook for music, fashion, dining and innovation as well.

Luckily for us here in Manila, Makati Shangri-La Manila brings Let It Be Great, a weeklong affair that offers a charmed lifestyle inspired by Great Britain. 

The celebration will highlight six main events: The Grand British Buffet at Circles Event Cafe, a Grand High Tea at Lobby Lounge, a wine dinner created by Michelin-starred Chef Daniel Galmiche, the Seven Senses Whisky Experiene at Sage Bespoke Grill Private Dining and the British Pub Nights at Sage Bar.

Circles Event Cafe’s open theatre kitchens offer you an international culinary experience right in the heart of Makati City. This May 23 until 27, 2016, indulge in a Great British Buffet for lunch and dinner, featuring classic British dishes such as Fish and Chips, Shepherd’s Pie, Bubble and Squeak, as well as authentic regional specialties like Yorkshire pudding.


    

Grand High Tea with Twinings Ambassador Charles Smith

This is one of the events I'm definitely looking forward to! Guests may have a lovely and classic British High Tea experience at the Lobby Lounge with Twinings tea ambassador Charles Smith, who will take them back in time to the origins of this most delicious British tradition.  

The Best of the Beatles with Manila Symphony Orchestra

In cooperation with Globe Platinum, the 45-piece Manila Symphony Orchestra, together with four up-and-coming artists, will perform the best-loved songs of the iconic British band, The Beatles, on May 26.  During this one-and-a-half-hour concert at the Lobby Lounge, guests will be transported to Abbey Road as the orchestra performs such favorites as Here Comes the Sun, Here, There and Everywhere, Yesterday and Let It Be.  Pre-concert cocktails will start at 7 p.m. and the concert start at 8 p.m.  Access is priced at P2,600 nett.

British Pub Nights at Sage Bar

Guests may enjoy Happy Hour like the British with beer and gin cocktails featuring London’s pioneer brew, award-winning Fuller’s Beer, and gin cocktails featuring such brands as Boodles London dry gin, the artisanal Islay label Botanist Gin and Bulldog Gin.  Tickets are at P1,800 nett and include three drinks and a buffet of charcuterie and British pub food at Sage Bar from 6 to 9 p.m.
