PUP Celebrates 149th Birthday of Apolinario Mabini

Tuesday, July 30, 2013

The 149th birthday of Apolinario Mabini was commemorated last July 23, 2013 at the Freedom Park of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Mabini Campus.

I have to commend how beautiful and well-organized this event is. This event was a collaboration of the PUP and the National Historical Commission.

The program started around 8:00 am, the time when the Vice-President Jejomar Binay arrived at the said campus. He was immediately assisted by AFP Rear Admiral Rodiguez. He was also welcomed by the President of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Dr. Emanuel C. De Guzman.

The program started through a welcoming ceremony done by the Armed Forces of the Philippines. And it was followed by the flag raising ceremony also led by the VP.

The speech of President De Guzman tells how the "Sublime Paralytic" can be of a great epitome to today's generation.

Next to deliver their speech was VP Binay. Here’s a fun fact. Do you know that VP Binay had been a faculty member of the PUP for 12 years? He also said that like Apolinario Mabini, he strived all throughout his life so that he can be able to sustain his education and basic needs.

After the program is the ribbon-cutting of the Mabini Museum. The distinguished guests are still present on this part of the program. A photo-op session was held first to give the media a good shot of their group photos.

The personalities had a tour over the mini-museum. The place is not that spacious but I could say that it is really filled with lots of great archives, paintings, and interactive materials that even our generation will appreciate.

I was lucky enough to shoot them up to the 2nd floor since Media people were not allowed upstairs because of the little space the floor has. But I was thankful because of the three photographers upstairs, I was one of them. The Chairman of the NHC showed VP Binay the e-learning that they just produced as a material for teaching to Grade 6-8.

Some of the historical memories were remembered and before I end, I like to quote what VP Jejomar Binay wrote at the dedication wall provided at one part of the museum.

“Kapag ginugunita ang buhay ni Gat. Apolinario Mabini, ibulong, “Ipagmalaki natin na tayo ay Pilipino!"

The First Photography Portfolio I Had

Friday, July 12, 2013

In my course, Bachelor in Advertising and Public Relations, we have different subjects (either business-related or to enhance our creative side) that will really bring us into the real action needed for our future endeavors.
One of the subjects I've been anticipating the moment I shifted course from Bachelor of Science in Accountancy to my new course right now (BAPR), is Basic Photography.
Now, to comply with this subject, we were asked to make a Photography Portfolio containing our photos of different categories. The Photos below are some of my photos taken on a Canon 50D Camera.

There was no category for this sunset shot. I just think that it's mandatory for every photographer to have their own mandatory sunset shot since it can easily capture a viewer's attention.

This Audi R8 reminds me of Christian Grey of Fifty Shades of Grey. I am really a fan of the said novel. The only difference is that, Christian Grey has a white Audi R8. SPOILER ALERT: She gave another R8 to Anastasia Steele. Damn hot guy! :)

Photo Diary: Bohemian Shoot

Friday, July 5, 2013

Chew on this, my real first love is photography. Actually, my childhood photos speak for themselves.

This Photo Diary is my first legit photo shoot ever. I was invited by my friends before to come and join them on their shoots before, but I wasn't able to participate due to some priorities needed to be done first.

Our set is somewhere in Angono, Rizal. It was an uphill and it has this really, really great view at the top.
Disclaimer: It was a hazy weather up there when we came that’s why we didn't get the kind of light we wanted to achieve for this photo shoot.

It will be the first time I posed for a conceptual photo shoot: The Bohemian Shoot. My outfit was not really that Bohemian because I don’t actually get to study the concept that much for it was kind of late when I found out that I can come to the shoot.

I’m not really much into Fashion Photography until this day. I've came to realize the beauty of taking a fashion shoot. This is also the time wherein my friends and I applied all the lessons we have learned from our past experiences. College indeed is a training ground of what you wanted to pursue sometime in the future.

I bought this floral dress from Bloggers United 5. Lovely isn't it?

Okay, I was trying to achieve that fierce kind of look, but it really doesn't suite me at all. That’s why I ended up with the chaste smile that complemented me more.

Here are the other photos taken by my ever-loving friend Jhean.

I wouldn't pass the chance to take photos of my friends since photography is my first real love.
For the photos below, I used a Nikon D3100.

The Photographer: Ramel Castillo

The Model: Samuel Cabilte

Jhean on her lovely Gipsy Get-Up

There's a story behind this outfit but I don't wanna blurt it out or else my life will be at stake!

There's actually a Beatles St. on the Philippines. :)

The rock indeed made a great backdrop.

In the Green Fields lay a great person with a great personality.
To sum it up, it was a quite tiring yet a very satisfying day for all of us. We've got great photos and at the same time, our friendship was strengthened as we experience things along together. I look forward to more photo shoots with them whenever the time permits.

It's a day well-spent.
